Testing has always been a challenge for a percentage of my students. Nothing like a test to reveal content and skill gaps. Lately, one of the biggest challenges for students has simply been stamina. It’s become harder for them to sustain their attention in a way that allows them to perform well across the entire test.

We usually show a few movies to students a few times across the school year. I’ve noticed that it’s become harder for some students to sit through a feature-length film. I wonder if this is because the media they consume is packaged in short bursts.

Scratch paper is a technology dynamo and is often underutilized. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best one.

I love family traditions. One of them is that each member of the house has their “Birthday Week”. The kids get a birthday banner personalized with photos and they get to set the menu for one week. There’s even a family birthday plate that my wife decorated at the local pottery shop.

What a way to celebrate another year of staying alive.
