STEM Challenge - Pasta Pod Racers
Our eighth-grade students were challenged to create cars using only pasta and hot glue. The cars had to travel at least 100cm once they reached the bottom of a ramp.
I'm in the middle of a Thirty-Day Challenge. This is 18/30.
Our entire school participated in a STEAM Day (Science Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) this year. Each grade level tackled STEM challenges, coded for half an hour, completed ten minutes of math facts practice, and worked with their grade-level buddy crew.
Our eighth-grade students were challenged to create cars using only pasta and hot glue. The cars had to travel at least 100cm once they reached the bottom of a ramp.
Here's a short video documenting their work along with the challenge directions. Feel free to use it in your classroom. It was a blast. This year we decided to give students only 40 minutes to plan, build, and test.
