Ode to Teaching Planning Time
Teachers need and deserve more uninterrupted planning time during the regular school day.
I just received the gift of a planning day with my teaching team. We were able to check off most items from our to-do list. Here's my Ode to Teacher Planning Time.
Teacher planning time is a lifesaver, and teachers need more of it. For many of us, it's less a part of our daily routine and more a sanity saver. When the class gets quiet, the students leave, and we have a moment to ourselves; it's like a sigh of relief.
Teaching is a constant juggling act, a balancing act, and a never-ending prioritization against the ticking clock. So, this planning time isn't just a schedule gap; it's a moment where order replaces chaos.
The best part of planning time is the stress relief it brings.
Teaching is a fulfilling profession, but it can also be relentlessly draining. The countless responsibilities, the constant need for attention, and the rhythm of the school day can pile up, bearing down on us like a physical weight. Planning time is a pressure release valve, letting us exhale, regroup, and approach our tasks with renewed energy and a clearer head.
In the end, time is a gift, a beautiful thing.
Teachers need and deserve more uninterrupted planning time during the regular school day.
