Education Twitter Chat Noob

Tonight I participated in my first education Twitter chat. I have been a "lurker" before, but I decided to respond to the prompts today and was glad I did. I dropped on the #tlap chat. It's hosted by Dave Burgess and stands for Teach Like a Pirate*. It just so happened that the discussion centered around professional development and we had a PD day at our school today. It was meant to be.
It felt good to talk to other folks in education about what we think effective professional development should be about. I will attend this chat again and also be on the lookout for more.

A3: True Learner Centered PD puts the power/responsibility back in Ts hands. Start w/ a simple needs assessment to let Ts pick a focus area for the year. Let Ts team up or work on their own to accomplish their PD goal. Most important, give them time to do so! #tlap #ROGUELeader
