Here's a question I recently posted on BlueSky.

What's something you do as part of your classroom management system that is authentic just to you?

One of my favorite responses is below. I think it is excellent advice for any teacher at any level. In my experience teaching eighth grade, it goes a long way to build relationships when I apologize and talk about how I mess up daily. It's also a good rule of thumb to deal with behaviors in private whenever possible.

In addition, taking deep breaths never hurts.

I know when to take a deep breath before addressing an issue and always apologize first. High schoolers need to save face in front of their peers and own up to their behaviors in private.
