A Year of Thirty-Day Challenges Complete
Thirty-Day Challenges are a powerful tool for personal growth and development. By committing to a small challenge for a short period, you can build new habits, break old ones, and learn more about yourself in the process.
This year, I set a goal of completing at least three thirty-day challenges. My first challenge involved creating a playlist and adding one song daily for thirty days. The second challenge was to create and share a six-word story for thirty days.
The final Thirty-Day Challenge I completed this year was making an entry into my commonplace notebook each day for thirty days. I completed this challenge back in September/October and am just now getting around to the documentation.
The act of writing down interesting quotes by hand had a calming effect. I also ended up going down a few rabbit holes. My favorite tangent was writing a few articles about the wisdom of Ted Lasso and how it could be applied to teaching.
I learned that even though I enjoyed each challenge, there were days when I didn't want to follow through. I also learned that every time I completed my challenge for the day, it strengthened my discipline muscle. Now, I have songs, stories, and wise quotes to look back on.
It's a goal I will set for myself next year.
Here are a few snapshots from my notebook.
