Completing a review near the end of December and at the end of the school year will help with goal setting and overall personal development.

Here are 15 Reasons for Teachers to Complete an Annual Review.
- It encourages goal setting.
- The annual review provides a reason to keep a journal and a reason to revisit it.
- Keeping score is motivational. Looking back on successes is a huge self-esteem boost.
- It sets the stage for prioritizing the most important things.
- You’re able to see what’s not working.
- You can see if your time and energy are focused on the right areas.
- It gives you an opportunity to be mindful of the choices you’re making. Are those choices moving you closer or further away from your goals?
- It helps to improve performance and puts us in a position to do our best work.
- We’re less likely to repeat mistakes.
- It will improve your decision-making process.
- You have a chance to evaluate the systems you have in place and tweak them.
- An annual review provides a chance to reset. You can let go in some areas and double down in others.
- You’ll be reminded of what’s most important to you.
- You will become a more effective captain of your own ship because you’re constantly reminding yourself of the final destination.
- We often ask our students to reflect because we know how powerful it can be. We can model this reflective practice for our students.
